Wisconsin seniors needing long-term care in a nursing home should expect to pay approximately $76,301.43 per year for care. The most recent average cost was announced by The Caregiverlist Nursing Home Index in its May 2015 report.
The report determines the annual cost based on the daily rates of 427 private and semi-private homes in Wisconsin. Because Medicare does not pay for long-term care, this number is extremely important when planning and researching the right senior care facility for you.
Cost of care is one of the many important areas to research when making the important decision about where you or your loved one should reside. It is also imperative to consider all ratings and complaints made against a facility.
If you or a loved one experience any kind of neglect or abuse from a nursing home, immediately contact the nursing home abuse attorneys of Pitman, Kalkhoff, Sicula & Dentice for a no-obligation consultation. Do not allow the continuation of inadequate care.
The interactive Caregiverlist Nursing Home Directory is an excellent resource for researching the nursing home facilities in your area.
Based on a five-star ranking scale, of the 427 nursing homes located in Wisconsin, 224 facilities score a four-star rating or higher. That accounts for six percent of all homes. Less than 7.5 percent of facilities, 32 homes, received a one-star ranking, the lowest quality score.
Though the cost of care and a facility’s quality score are very important considerations when choosing a nursing home, these are only a starting point. It is just as important to visit the facilities you are interested in and evaluate them yourself.
