Dozens, possibly hundreds of people have now gotten sick after attending an awards luncheon in Waukesha County this week.
Complaints to the Health Department began after attendees at The Women of Distinction Luncheon at the Country Springs Hotel Tuesday started feeling similar symptoms.
Now the Health Department is investigating to see if it was a food-born illness. Nearly 500 people attended the event which had items such as dinner rolls, Asian chicken salad, and chocolate cake on the menu.
A romaine lettuce recall just last week has been linked with an E-Coli outbreak in several states, but the health department wont confirm whether the hotel served the same lettuce.
The Health Department is investigating the possibility of tainted lettuce, but says it will be days before they know the cause for sure. They spent Thursday inspecting the hotel, which is taking extra precautions of its own. Management Country Springs Hotel says they have hired an outside company to steam clean the place from floor to ceiling.
