Spending time with a loved one in a nursing home is one of the most valuable expressions of love that you can give. The Labor Day weekend is the opportunity to get in all of those last-minute summer activities you enjoy with your loved one before setting in for cooler temperatures.
It is a great time to make memories and celebrate the changing of seasons with your aging loved ones. There are plenty of fun activities you can enjoy with your elderly parents this Labor Day.
If you are planning to head out of town even for a short trip, remember that Labor Day is one of the busiest travel days of the year.
- This means you will need to work plenty of time into your schedule for traffic stops on the way to your destination.
- Remember to make sure your loved ones stay hydrated, especially if you are doing any outdoor activities.
- If you are planning to visit their nursing home, arts and crafts is a fun activity to stimulate their creativity for the holiday weekend. You may even opt for a patriotic theme by using the traditional colors of red, white, and blue, or start getting ready for the fall by using autumn colors for inspiration.
Remember, visiting a loved one in a nursing center is critical. It not only keeps your loved one connected with their family and community, but it helps break up their routine.
For over a decade, our Wisconsin elder abuse attorneys have been helping family members recognize the signs of abuse and neglect in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, group homes, independent living facilities, and home health care.
