Milwaukee, WI A woman who suffered from a Stage 4 decubitus ulcer received a settlement after receiving care from a Milwaukee area home health company.
Attorney Jeffrey Pitman of Pitman, Kalkhoff, Sicula & Dentice, S.C. settled the case on behalf of a home health patient who was cared for by home health nurses and aides. The staff allowed the resident to acquire a stage-4 pressure sore on her coccyx which later became infected. The exposed wound left the base of her spine exposed and required a skin flap graft to cover it. The state of Wisconsin documented that the nurse did not contact the residents’ physician when called by the home health aide to report the patient was screaming in pain. The case settled without trial.
